SMS Opt-In
How business owners and callers come to receive text messages from YAP VOICE · Last updated: October 1, 2026
This page documents, in full and without requiring an account, how a business owner opts in to the text messages YAP VOICE sends them. It exists so that the consent wording and the point at which it is shown can be read by anyone, including mobile carriers reviewing this messaging programme.
YAP VOICE is the AI receptionist service operated by YAP-AI Solutions, San Diego, CA.
Program name
YAP VOICE AI Receptionist Notifications.
Who receives messages
Two people, and nobody else:
- The business owner, at the mobile number they enter themselves in their own YAP VOICE account, about enquiries the AI receptionist took for their own business. How they opt in is shown below.
- A caller who has just phoned that business and given the assistant a number to be called back on, when the business has turned caller confirmations on. They receive one text confirming their message was taken (and the visit time, if one was booked on the call). How that consent works is described under Callers: the confirmation text.
- A caller whose call ended before they left a message, when the business has turned this on. They receive one text from the business line they called, asking what they need. See Callers who hung up before leaving a message.
No numbers are ever imported, purchased, or collected from any other source. We never send marketing, and never text anyone who has not contacted the business themselves.
The only way to opt in
There is a single opt-in path. A business owner signs up for the YAP VOICE service, opens the settings page of their account, and types their own mobile number into the field below. The field is empty by default, and the consent checkbox is unticked by default. Nothing is sent unless the owner completes both, which is an active, affirmative action taken by the account holder about their own handset.
Opting in by text message is not supported, and there is no keyword to text in — the number has to be attached to a specific business account, so it can only be entered inside that account.
The form, exactly as the account holder sees it
This is a copy of the opt-in form from the account settings page, reproduced here so the wording can be read without logging in. It is for reference only and does not submit anything.
Shown for reference. This copy is disabled and sends nothing.
What the messages say
Every message is a transactional notification about an enquiry the AI receptionist has just taken for that owner's business. They contain no marketing, no promotions and no links. A typical message:
Services: Catering
Name: Maria Lopez
Phone: +16195550132
preferred date: Saturday
preferred time: morning
Callers: the confirmation text
A caller is texted only when all of these are true:
- they phoned the business themselves;
- they gave the assistant a number to be called back on, for their own enquiry;
- the business has turned caller confirmations on (they are off by default); and
- the assistant has told them on the call that a confirmation text will be sent to that number.
They receive one transactional message per enquiry, from the business line they called. It carries no marketing, no offers and no links, and no follow-up messages are sent. What it says:
When a visit was pencilled in on the call:
Replying STOP stops all messages to that number.
Callers who hung up before leaving a message
When a caller hangs up before leaving a message, the business may have chosen to send them one text so their enquiry is not lost. A caller is texted only when all of these are true:
- they phoned the business themselves, moments earlier, and spoke to the assistant;
- their call ended before a message was taken, and they had not said no to leaving one;
- their number was shown on the call (withheld numbers are never texted); and
- the business has turned this on (it is off by default).
The number is the one they called from, shown by the phone network on their own call; it is used for this one reply only. At most one such text is sent to a number in any 24 hours, and none if that number was already sent a text by the business in that time. It carries no marketing, no offers and no links, and no follow-up messages are sent. What it says:
When the text invites a reply, the reply is answered by the same assistant, by text. Replying STOP stops all messages to that number.
Message frequency
Owners: one message per enquiry the assistant takes, so frequency follows how many calls the business receives — typically a few messages per day. There is no recurring or scheduled send, and no message is sent when there is nothing to report.
Callers: at most one message per enquiry, or one after a call that ended before a message was left, and never more than one such text to a number in 24 hours.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. One confirmation is sent and nothing further goes to that number.
The owner can also clear the number from the same settings field at any time, which stops the notifications immediately. To resume after replying STOP, reply START from the same handset.
